Kim Rae Won for UNICEF
by javabeans
I love posting good news. Heh. Despite my enjoyment of bitchy snark.
Actor Kim Rae Won has been appointed to act as UNICEF Card Patron for the next year (UNICEF Cards are sold throughout the world, at approximately $1 each, the proceeds of which go entirely toward helping children). His appointment was made official on the 30th by the Korean Committee for UNICEF in Seoul.
In attendance at the ceremony were goodwill ambassador (and creepy-looking designer man) Andre Kim, as well as special representative (and comedian) Kim Mi Hwa.
I haven’t seen many of Kim Rae Won’s works; his last drama was 2006’s What Star Are You From? with Jung Ryeo Won, which I thought was all right but not enough to keep watching through the end. I could NOT bear to watch Love Story In Harvard because of all the horeeebul Engrishee. (And dude, not everyone at Harvard dresses in V-neck sweaters over collared shirts. It’s Ivy League, not J.Crew.) I did like the movie My Little Bride, although that, of course, had a lot to do with “Korea’s Little Sister,” the adorable Moon Geun Young. He next appears as a chef in the upcoming drama Gourmet with actress Nam Sang Mi.

Thanks for sharing all these lovely indie Korean bands/singers on yr blog. Seriously where do you find these songs? Especially in the US, I assume, where you live? Either way I am thankful...for it is awesome to find a good critic/reviewer of Korean dramas (in English) and for introducing me to some amazing music. Have a great week ahead :)

Ew. Ever since I watched "Love Story in Harvard" my image of Kim Rae Won became TOTALLY ruined.
I hated his face and I found him totally obnoxious even in attic cat. I dont see why people think he's handsome. (EW)

I'm glad you enjoy the music, jb. I basically look online and keep my eyes open for any artists that catch my eye, and generally I'll give almost anything a try. That means I listen to a lot of bad music but finding one I like makes it worth it. And thanks to Yesasia and Koreatown, I can get almost anything I'm looking for.

I totally agree with the cringe worthy English in Harvard. I watch 1 episode every couple of weeks if I'm really bored. Loved Litte Bride too. Witch Star You're From just looked like late 90's or early 2000 to me hence I was surprised to find out that it's reletively new afterwards. Def. not really worth finishing as you said.

jb, I share your sentiments towards him. His acting (and looks) has yet to impress me. Perhaps Gourmet will surprise me?

I only managed to survive one episode of LSIH. Didn't even watch WPAYF..
But I did like KRW in Attic Cat and My Love Patji..I think he's a good actor, but not exceptionally great. Looking forward to his new one..

He looks cool to me and has this big built. I bet he can whoop jun jin's ass anytime with them huge hands of his. I don't know why but for me KRW gives this aura that he's being who he really is unlike other male stars that are just hyped up and too how should I say this... exposed? Although I definitely think he needs to take language classes. Man his english is funny as hell.
